This is a wonderful experimental abstraction made by Bing in 1934. Ilse Bing (1899 – 1998) made many technical innovations in her career. She innovated the use of the small-format camera, and is known as the “Queen of the Leica.” This 11 x 14 – inch gelatin silver print is signed in ink on the upper left of the photograph, dated 1934, and signed dated and titled in pencil on the verso, with the notation “printed 1984.” A fascinating photograph!
