Painting of Woman, by Langenheim

LangenheimA

Trapiercase

LangenheimB

1/2 plate daguerreotype of a painting of a woman by W. & F. Langenheim, Philadelphia.  Interestingly the posing of the woman in the painting, with the bent arm, is similar to some of Langenheim’s portraits. This seems to have been made as a representative portrait of the woman, rather than a celebration of the artist.

It is is a characteristic case used by the Langenheims in the mid 1840’s. It has the original spine but the design shows wear.
