This is a wonderful stereoscopic image. A stag nibbles on a stump. In the viewer the stag’s horns come forward. The other animals that almost blend into the rocks when looked at directly, stand out distinctly in the viewer.
There is a mild diagonal scratch in the left view that does not disturb the viewing. This has been retaped and rebacked. The top and sides of the backing to the cover glass is worn, but the central part of the mask is intact, with the gilded framing around the opening that suggests a French maker.
The image is crisp and the figure stands out nicely against the plain background.
