Lorette Luiz was born in Hawaii in 1928, and died in 1999. She changed her name to “Luez.” She was a model, and then played many exotic sultry roles in films. Her most important role was in the great film noir classic “D.O.A.” She is said to have suggested Norma Jean take the name Marilyn Monroe.
These six prints are all 14 x 11- inches, and have Philippe Halsman’s stamp on the verso, along with “Hollywood 1949” in pencil. There are two copies of her portrait holding the glass. The vertical line at the right of the fourth scan is in the negative. It isn’t a scratch on the print.
