Bill Witt, “’The Eye’ – Lower East side, N.Y. City.” 10 1/8 x 11 ¼ – inch gelatin silver print on Witt’s original mount. This is a large print of this subject. We also have a slightly smaller one. Signed and dated 1948 on recto. Titled and signed in pencil verso, with “Printed about early 1950’s, Vintage Print” on recto, with Witt’s Credit stamp, and his Newark address stamp [crossed out.]

The busy street is seen through the optometrist’s window, with various signs and large glasses and eyes. This photograph was included in “Radical Camera: New York’s Photo League, 1930 – 1951” at the Jewish Museum New York, 2011 – 2012. It is in their collection, as well as that of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and other institutions.” (613bw.4)
